Our history.

Princeton Parents for Black Children was incorporated in 2020 after decades of advocacy by Black parents and allies in favor of improving educational opportunity, access and outcomes for all Black children. Institutionalizing our advocacy is a major milestone in the history of Black parents in Princeton; it recognizes that the fight for equity and justice in this district has been long and will require sustained and perpetual attention and effort.

Since PPBC’s incorporation in 2020, we have held numerous programs including an annual Recognition Ceremony highlighting our students graduating from 12th grade and moving up from 5th and 8th grades; an annual PPS Board of Education Candidates Forum; membership meetings with access to district administrators and school leaders; and community-oriented programs such as Black History Month Trivia competition and winter holiday party.

In addition, PPBC has written letters of support for Black administrators and teachers and received more than $1000.00, for the Shirley Satterfield Scholarship Fund, funding PPS middle and high school students who need support to participate in various school activities..

Our mission.

The mission of Princeton Parents for Black Children is to advocate for equity and to support all Black children in the Princeton Public School District.

As a collective voice that advocates for the rights of Black students within the Princeton Public School District, we believe in compassion in teaching; fair, equitable and just policies and discipline; representation in curriculum, leadership, and staff; and racial literacy from Pre-K through high school.

We strive for equity at all levels and are dedicated to ensuring the opportunity for achievement of academic success for all students. Our goal is to create and sustain a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students, families, faculty, administrators and staff so that they feel wholly safe and welcome.
